The Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna has issued a strong public warning to all students regarding the activities of unauthorized groups operating within and around the campus. The notice, dated 2nd December 2025, comes as part of the Union’s commitment to safeguarding student welfare, safety, and academic stability.
SUG Raises Alarm Over Group Approaching Students With Misleading Offers
According to the official announcement, a group identified as Neolife has been approaching students—particularly freshers—both inside and outside the school premises. The group reportedly promises quick-money opportunities and other enticing offers designed to lure students into engagements that are neither approved nor associated with the institution.
The SUG made it clear that these individuals do not represent the school, nor do their activities align with any official student or academic program. Their presence and operations have been linked to scams, academic distractions, and a noticeable decline in student performance in past sessions.
Students Warned to Avoid All Contact With Such Groups
In the interest of student safety and academic focus, the SUG issued a set of strong advisories:
- Avoid attending any meetings, gatherings, or “business opportunities” introduced by these individuals.
- If approached, students are advised to walk away immediately.
- Report any encounter to the SUG Welfare Director or any Executive member through official channels once the emergency contact numbers are released.
The Union emphasized that these unauthorized groups are often deceptive in nature and could potentially exploit students’ financial vulnerabilities or curiosity.
School Provides Safer, Approved Platforms for Skills and Entrepreneurship
The SUG further noted that the university already provides legitimate and structured skill-acquisition and entrepreneurship programs for interested students. These approved platforms ensure safety, proper guidance, and meaningful growth without exposing students to risks or exploitative schemes.
Students seeking personal development or financial empowerment were encouraged to take advantage of these recognized university programs rather than falling prey to unapproved groups.
Safety and Academic Excellence Remain Top Priority
Reiterating their commitment, the SUG assured students that their safety and academic success remain at the forefront of the Union’s agenda. They appealed to all students to stay alert, informed, and focused throughout the academic session.
The announcement was endorsed by key SUG officials—Comr. Arowosegbe Daniel Precious (Secretary General), Comr. Sen. Adaidu Ezekiel Machofo (President), and Comr. Nurudeen Muhammad Liman (Public Relations Officer)—reflecting the administration’s unified stance on keeping the campus secure.
As the 2025/2026 academic year progresses, the SUG continues to encourage vigilance and responsible decision-making among students, ensuring that FUTMINNA remains a safe and conducive environment for learning and growth.
