The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has officially announced the date and arrangements for its 38th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, with the university management emphasizing punctuality and strict adherence to entry protocols for all attendees.
According to an official circular released by the Office of the Registrar on 9th February, 2026, the matriculation ceremony will take place on Monday, 16th February, 2026, at 10:00am at the Convocation Square, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.

In the communication signed by Mrs. Omolola O. Alhassan, Deputy Registrar (Academic), for the Registrar, the university directed that all staff, students, and invited guests must be seated at the venue by 9:30am. Importantly, the circular warns that no one will be allowed into the venue after the academic procession has entered by 9:50am.
This timeline signals the university’s intention to enforce order, discipline, and ceremonial decorum during the matriculation, which marks the formal admission of new students into the academic community of FUTMINNA.
The matriculation ceremony is traditionally one of the most symbolic academic rites in Nigerian universities. It is the formal event where newly admitted students take the matriculation oath, pledging to abide by the rules, values, and academic standards of the institution. For FUTMINNA, the 38th edition represents another milestone in its decades-long history of producing skilled graduates in science, technology, engineering, and innovation.
By setting a strict cut-off time for entry, the management appears determined to avoid the usual late arrivals and disruptions that sometimes affect major university events. The emphasis on seating by 9:30am and barring entry after 9:50am suggests that the academic procession — a key highlight of the ceremony involving principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and academic staff in full regalia — will proceed with precision.
For fresh students of the 2025/2026 session, this event is more than ceremonial. It is the moment they are formally recognized as bona fide students of FUTMINNA, with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come with the status. Attendance is therefore not just important but symbolic of their official entry into the academic culture of the university.
As February 16 approaches, the message from the Registrar’s Office is unmistakable: arrive early, be seated on time, and respect the ceremonial order that defines one of FUTMINNA’s most important academic events.
