NYSC Opens Registration Portal March 12 for Next Batch of Prospective Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that its online portal will open on March 12, 2026, for the registration of prospective corps members ahead of the next mobilisation exercise. The development signals the beginning of another service year cycle for thousands of Nigerian graduates preparing to undertake the mandatory one-year national service.

According to information released by the management of the scheme, the registration window will remain open from March 12 to March 18, 2026, giving eligible graduates a limited period to complete their online registration before the portal closes. The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to complete the process early to avoid last-minute technical challenges and possible delays.

The scheme clarified that only graduates whose institutions have uploaded their names to the official Senate or Academic Board approved results list will be able to access and complete the registration process successfully. In line with the requirements of the service scheme, higher institutions across the country are responsible for forwarding the verified list of graduates eligible for mobilisation to the NYSC system.

Prospective corps members are expected to carefully verify that their names appear on the approved list submitted by their institutions before attempting to register. The NYSC management emphasized that failure to confirm this detail may prevent candidates from completing the process, as the system will only recognize names that have been officially uploaded by institutions.

The registration process will require applicants to provide several important personal and academic details, including their National Identification Number (NIN), valid email address, phone number, JAMB registration number, matriculation number, and academic records. Candidates will also undergo biometric fingerprint capture and upload a passport photograph during the online registration procedure.

NYSC also issued strict guidelines regarding the passport photograph required for registration. According to the scheme, photographs must be taken against a white or off-white background, while the applicant’s face must be clearly visible. The use of eyeglasses during the photograph capture is not permitted, and both ears must be clearly visible to ensure proper biometric identification.

The management further warned that prospective corps members must dress decently while taking their registration photographs. The scheme stressed that the use of military or paramilitary uniforms is strictly prohibited during the process, adding that photographs that do not meet the official standards may be rejected by the system.

In addition, the NYSC cautioned cybercafé operators assisting applicants with the registration exercise to follow the official guidelines carefully. The scheme noted that incorrect biometric capture or improper photograph submission could lead to complications for prospective corps members later during the mobilisation process.

Graduates who miss the registration window may have to wait for the next mobilisation cycle before they can participate in the programme, making it essential for eligible candidates to complete the process within the stipulated period.
