The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), in collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has formally inducted 260 engineering graduates into the engineering profession at a ceremony held in Jos. The event recognized graduates from the University of Jos whose academic achievements and professional readiness met the standards required for practice in Nigeria.
The induction ceremony was highlighted by key addresses from top officials. Ali Rabiu, President of the NSE, commended the University of Jos for producing engineers who are not only technically competent but also embody the values of professionalism, integrity, discipline, and leadership. He emphasized the critical role of engineers in national development and urged the new members to uphold the highest standards in their professional conduct.
The oath of office was administered by Okorie Uche, COREN Registrar, who reminded the graduates of their responsibility to uphold engineering ethics, continuously improve their knowledge, and reject all forms of unprofessional behavior. “Engineering is not just about building structures or systems; it is about serving society with accountability and integrity,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Professor Tanko Ishaya, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, congratulated the inductees, urging them to be proud ambassadors of their alma mater. He also announced plans to expand academic programs to provide more courses that directly respond to societal needs, ensuring that future graduates are even better equipped to contribute to national development.
