FUTMINNA Releases Full Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Session — Key Dates, Breaks, and Senate Approvals Announced

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has released its detailed academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session, outlining all key activities for both new and returning students. The comprehensive schedule, signed by the Registrar, Mal. Danladi Mallam, covers the First and Second Semesters and highlights all major academic events, examinations, recess periods, and official Senate meetings.

The newly approved timetable gives both staff and students a clear overview of the upcoming session, which is designed to run smoothly from October 2025 to September 2026, before the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic year.


First Semester: Monday, 13th October 2025 – Saturday, 11th April 2026 (15 Weeks)

According to the document, the first semester will begin with payment of school fees for new students between Monday, 3rd November and Sunday, 16th November 2025. This will be followed by online registration for both new and returning students from Monday, 1st December to Sunday, 30th November 2025 (note: overlapping dates indicate flexible registration periods).

Major Events and Activities:

  • Lectures Begin: Monday, 1st December 2025 – Friday, 19th December 2025 (3 weeks of academic activities for all 100L–500L students).
  • Annual Recess (Christmas Break): Saturday, 20th December 2025 – Saturday, 3rd January 2026 (2 weeks).
  • Resumption after Recess / Lectures Continue: Monday, 5th January 2026 – Saturday, 31st January 2026 (4 weeks).
  • Matriculation Ceremony for New Students: Thursday, 8th January 2026.
  • Orientation Programme for Fresh Students: Thursday, 22nd – Friday, 23rd January 2026.
  • Founder’s Day Celebration: Sunday, 1st February 2026.
  • Computer-Based e-Tests for 100 Level and Large Classes: Monday, 2nd February – Saturday, 21st February 2026 (3 weeks).
  • Lectures Continue: Monday, 23rd February – Saturday, 7th March 2026 (3 weeks).
  • Revision Week: Monday, 9th March – Saturday, 14th March 2026 (1 week).
  • First Semester Examinations: Monday, 23rd March – Saturday, 11th April 2026 (3 weeks).
  • Semester Break: Monday, 13th April – Saturday, 18th April 2026 (2 weeks).

The calendar also includes a First Semester Break for students, allowing time for rest, course evaluations, and administrative reviews.

  • SIWES Commencement: Monday, 13th April – Saturday, 26th September 2026 (for schools participating in industrial training, except SAA and SSTE students; 24 weeks duration).
  • School Boards to Consider First Semester Results: Monday, 25th May 2026.
  • Senate Meeting to Approve Results: Wednesday, 24th June 2026.

Second Semester: Monday, 13th April 2026 – Saturday, 25th July 2026 (15 Weeks)

The Second Semester will begin immediately after the first-semester break, running for another 15 weeks of academic and administrative activities.

🔹 Transition to the New Session

The 2026/2027 Academic Session will officially commence on Monday, 5th October 2026. Orientation and registration exercises for fresh students will begin immediately, marking the start of another academic cycle.


Additional University Directives

In addition to the academic activities, the university management included two key policies aimed at promoting the health and wellness of both staff and students:

  • Staff Fitness Exercise: Every Saturday from 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., all staff members are expected to participate in a mandatory physical fitness session.
  • Mid-Week Sporting Activities: Every Wednesday, lectures will end by 2:00 p.m. to allow time for organized sports and recreational events for students.
