FUTMINNA SUG Issues Strong Warning Against Unauthorized Faculty and Departmental Fee Collection

The Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna has released a new official statement addressing concerns over the collection of unauthorized faculty and departmental fees. The clarification, issued on 3rd December 2025, aims to protect students from illegal financial demands and reinforce transparency in the institution’s fee structure.

SUG Clarifies That All Departmental and Faculty Dues Are Already Included in School Fees

According to the press release, all approved departmental and faculty dues have already been fully integrated into the general school fees by the university’s management. This means students are not required to make any additional payments to any department, faculty, class representative, or individual under any circumstance.

The SUG emphasized that once a student has completed the payment of their school fees, all legitimate dues tied to their academic program are considered fully settled.

Important Advisory to All FUTMINNA Students

The Student Union Government strongly cautioned students to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to unauthorized fee collectors. The statement highlighted key points that every student must strictly adhere to:

  • Do not pay any extra or additional departmental or faculty charges.
  • Do not respond to unverified or unauthorized payment requests from anyone.
  • Disregard any form of fee collection not issued through official university or SUG communication channels.

The Union further urged students to protect themselves by reporting any suspicious fee requests immediately.

SUG Encourages Students to Report Unauthorized Fee Collection Attempts

Students who encounter individuals, office staff, groups, or representatives demanding extra payments are advised to promptly report such incidents to the SUG for decisive action. The Union assured students that it is fully committed to safeguarding their welfare, finances, and academic peace.

This clarification comes as part of the administration’s continued efforts to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in all financial dealings within the university.
