JAMB Opens 2026 Direct Entry Registration for Prospective University Students

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) registration, providing a pathway for candidates with advanced qualifications to gain admission directly into 200-level programmes in Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.

According to the Board, the registration started on Monday, 2 March 2026, and will close on Saturday, 25 April 2026, giving candidates a seven-week window to complete their applications. The announcement was made through JAMB’s verified social media channels, highlighting the importance of adhering strictly to the registration period.

Understanding Direct Entry

Direct Entry registration is specifically designed for candidates who have already completed higher education qualifications beyond the Senior Secondary School level. Eligible candidates include holders of:

  • National Diploma (ND)
  • National Certificate in Education (NCE)
  • Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Certificate
  • A-Level Certificates
  • Other equivalent qualifications approved by JAMB

This route allows such candidates to bypass the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and apply directly for admission into 200-level or higher courses, depending on their previous qualifications.

How and Where to Register

Prospective DE candidates are required to purchase application e-PINs exclusively at JAMB accredited State and Zonal Offices across Nigeria. Unlike UTME registration, the DE process is not available at standard Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. Candidates are advised to ensure that all eligibility criteria are met before purchasing e-PINs and completing their applications.
