Abuja – The federal government has approved the establishment of three new polytechnics in the country.
A statement from the federal education ministry on Wednesday, signed by its director of information, Bem Goong, said the government’s actions were in line with its determination to make higher education more accessible.
Representatives move towards the establishment of the National Polytechnic Commission.
The three new polytechnics, according to the statement, should be located in Kano, Delta and Abia respectively.

“Consistent with his determination to make higher education more accessible, President Muhammadu Buhari has authorized the creation of three new federal polytechnics in the country,” the statement said.
The polytechnics will be located in Umunnoechi in Abia State, Orogun in Delta State and Kabo in Kano State.
According to the director, the new institution is expected to start academic activities in October 2022.
“That leads to 36 Federal polytechnics of Applied Sciences in the country. All federal states already have a Federal polytechnics of Applied Sciences,” he added.
