NYSC Announces December 18 Passing-Out Date for 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially scheduled Thursday, December 18, 2025, as the passing-out date for corps members of the 2024 Batch C Stream II, marking the completion of their mandatory one-year national service. The announcement signals the final phase of activities for thousands of young Nigerians who have spent the past year contributing to national development through their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), Community Development Service (CDS), and various NYSC programmes across the country.

In a statement confirming the development, the Scheme explained that this year’s passing-out event will take the form of a low-key nationwide ceremony. The traditional ceremonial parades and large public gatherings that characterized some past POP exercises will not hold. Instead, the focus will be on the seamless and well-supervised distribution of the Certificates of National Service. All corps members are expected to collect their certificates from their respective Local Government Areas, where NYSC officials will coordinate the process and conclude final documentation.

NYSC officials have already commenced preparations ahead of the passing-out date. A number of transition-focused programmes have been lined up, including the Job Advisory and Counselling (JAC) activities, which the Scheme is hosting in collaboration with partner agencies and private-sector stakeholders. These sessions were designed to equip corps members with essential post-service skills, offer guidance on job opportunities, provide insights into entrepreneurship, and connect participants with helpful career-development resources. The Scheme noted that attending these advisory sessions is not only beneficial but also strategic for corps members preparing to transition fully into the labour market or further their education.

In addition to the advisory programme, NYSC has emphasized the importance of completing all final clearance obligations. Corps members must ensure that their service records are fully verified by their Zonal and Local Government Inspectors. This includes the confirmation of their participation at their Places of Primary Assignment, proper evaluation of their contributions to Community Development Service, documentation of any Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) participation, and final sign-offs required for certificate eligibility. The Scheme reiterated that failure to complete these processes may lead to delays in receiving certificates, underscoring the need for corps members to be proactive and attentive as the date draws near.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, extended his congratulations to the outgoing corps members, praising their commitment, discipline, and contributions throughout the service year. He commended them for upholding the ideals of the Scheme and encouraged them to carry the values of integrity, patriotism, and community service into the next chapter of their lives. According to the DG, the end of service should not mark the end of national contribution. Instead, he urged corps members to remain exemplary ambassadors of the NYSC in their respective communities, future workplaces, and personal endeavours.

The December 18 passing-out ceremony represents not only the end of the service year but also a symbolic milestone for the 2024 Batch C Stream II cohort. Many have spent months navigating new environments far from home, working in schools, hospitals, agencies, private establishments, and communities across Nigeria. During the course of their service, they participated in various national development initiatives, helped address manpower gaps in critical sectors, and contributed to projects aimed at strengthening their host communities. The passing-out date therefore marks the culmination of a year defined by learning, adaptation, responsibility, and personal growth.

At the same time, the anticipation surrounding the passing-out ceremony signals the beginning of a new journey for the outgoing corps members. For many, the transition from NYSC life to professional, academic, or entrepreneurial pursuits can be both exciting and challenging. The Scheme’s final preparations — including advisory sessions and clearance checks — aim to support corps members during this important period of transition, equipping them to step confidently into the next phase.

As December 18 approaches, corps members have been urged to stay in close contact with their Local Government Inspectors for guidance on specific procedures, time allocation, and certificate collection arrangements within their respective locations. The Scheme assured them that all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth exercise nationwide.
