Spotify Names Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You” Most Shared Nigerian Song of 2025

Nigerian superstars Davido and Omah Lay have claimed the top spot on Spotify’s 2025 list of the most shared Nigerian songs with their hit collaboration, “With You.” According to Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped data for Nigeria, the track emerged as the most forwarded and reposted across both private and public digital platforms, underscoring its widespread appeal and resonance among listeners.

Spotify highlighted that this trend illustrates music’s powerful role as a social connector in Nigeria. The platform described music sharing as a modern form of personal communication, where songs act as a “personal handshake” — a way for individuals to express, “I’m thinking of you,” without words.

Close on the heels of Davido and Omah Lay’s hit was Rema’s “Fun,” which dominated sharing on Snapchat and Instagram. Spotify noted that sharing the song often went beyond private messaging, functioning instead as an expression of identity and personality.

Burna Boy’s “Love” ranked third, enjoying extensive circulation across Snapchat, Instagram stories, and WhatsApp, further demonstrating how Nigerian listeners use music to create shared emotional experiences in their digital lives.

Faith-based tracks also featured prominently, with Lawrence Oyor’s “Favour” at fourth and “No Turning Back II” by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor at fifth. These songs circulated widely in WhatsApp groups and story feeds, providing both encouragement and spiritual reassurance to listeners.

Spotify’s report further revealed that social listening practices — including blend playlists, friends mix, and collaborative playlists — transformed music consumption into a shared ritual. Jam sessions in Nigeria increased by 145% compared to 2024, as groups of friends, lovers, colleagues, and crews engaged in real-time listening experiences that strengthened bonds.

Industry observers noted that these patterns of sharing explain why some songs gain rapid traction, emphasizing that Nigerians use music to feel close, express identity, uplift others, and foster a sense of community. Spotify concluded that in 2025, every forwarded song, shared link, or story post reflected the same reality: music is a social glue, bridging private and public spaces, and weaving individuals into connected communities.

This recognition further cements Davido and Omah Lay’s impact on Nigeria’s music landscape, illustrating how digital engagement continues to redefine musical success beyond traditional streaming metrics.
