Peter Obi, presidential hopeful of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Governor of Anambra State, has donated a total of ₦60 million to two Nigerian universities, reinforcing his commitment to educational development and youth empowerment.
Obi contributed ₦30 million to Dominican University, Ibadan, during a visit to the institution in Oyo State. He also gave another ₦30 million to Peter University, Achina/Onneh, Anambra State.
Highlighting the importance of education, Obi said it remains one of the most enduring investments a society can make. He emphasized that education not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens communities and equips nations to face future challenges.
He further stated that supporting institutions dedicated to learning, character formation, and service to humanity is a privilege. According to Obi, his university visits were not merely ceremonial but a testament to his belief that higher education should inspire young people to dream beyond their immediate circumstances and view themselves as capable citizens contributing meaningfully to national development.
Obi concluded that his donations reflect his ongoing advocacy for greater investment in education, which he sees as a crucial pathway to national progress and social transformation.
