How to Check JAMB Result 2026: Step-by-Step Guide

After writing the JAMB UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination), every candidate is eager to find out their score. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) provides multiple ways for candidates to check their results. This guide covers all the methods for checking your JAMB result 2026.

When Will JAMB 2026 Results Be Released?

JAMB 2026 UTME results are typically released within 24 to 72 hours after the examination. Since the UTME is a Computer-Based Test (CBT), results can be processed quickly. Most candidates receive their results the same day or the day after their exam. JAMB officially announces the release date on their website and through news outlets.

Method 1: Check JAMB Result on the JAMB Portal

This is the most reliable and detailed method to check your JAMB 2026 result:

  1. Visit the official JAMB website: www.jamb.gov.ng
  2. Click on “Check UTME Result” or navigate to the JAMB eFacility portal
  3. Log in using your JAMB registration number and password
  4. Your result summary will display showing your overall score and individual subject scores
  5. You can print or screenshot your result page for reference

Method 2: Check JAMB Result via JAMB CAPS

The JAMB CAPS (Central Admissions Processing System) portal at jamb.gov.ng/efacility also displays your UTME result alongside your admission status. To access:

  1. Go to jamb.gov.ng/efacility
  2. Enter your email address and password registered during JAMB registration
  3. Click on “Dashboard” — your UTME score will be visible at the top of the page
  4. You can also view your institution and course from this portal

Method 3: Check JAMB Result via SMS

If you do not have internet access, you can check your JAMB result via SMS:

  1. Open a new SMS message on your phone
  2. Type: RESULT
  3. Send to: 55019 (MTN) or 66019 (Glo)
  4. You will receive your JAMB score as an SMS reply within a few minutes
  5. Standard SMS charges may apply

Method 4: Check Result at a CBT Centre

If you cannot access the internet or SMS result, visit the CBT centre where you wrote your exam. Present your JAMB slip and the centre staff will help you access your result. Most accredited CBT centres across Nigeria can pull up a candidate’s result using the registration number.

What Information Is Shown on JAMB Result?

Your JAMB 2026 result will display: your full name, registration number, examination date, overall UTME score (out of 400), and the individual score for each of your four subjects. You will also see your first and second institution choices and courses.

How Is the JAMB Score Calculated?

Each UTME subject contains 40 questions (Use of English has 60 questions). Each correct answer is worth 2.5 marks. The maximum score is 400. Your total score is the sum of all correct answers across the four subjects multiplied by the appropriate mark weight.

What to Do After Checking Your JAMB 2026 Result

If your score meets or exceeds the cut off of your chosen institution, wait for their Post UTME registration to open. If your score is below the cut off but above the national minimum of 140, consider changing to a lower-tier institution that accepts your score. If your score is below 140, you may need to retake JAMB in the next registration cycle. Log into JAMB CAPS regularly to monitor your admission status — institutions accept candidates through the portal.

JAMB Result Issues and How to Fix Them

If your result is not appearing on the portal, wait at least 48 hours after your exam date before checking. If the issue persists, visit a JAMB state office with your original exam slip and a valid ID. Common issues include: wrong email address on registration (reset your password), technical errors during CBT (JAMB has a complaint system for this), or mistaken identity (carry your original registration slip always). You can also call the JAMB helpline or email info@jamb.gov.ng for support.
